For Nofo Nauma, a career as a Healthcare Assistant is an opportunity to grow and develop as an individual, while also being supported in a caring team environment.
“It’s so rewarding contributing to a team; bringing out the best in myself and my colleagues to fulfill our goals and see positive results in the healthcare setting.”
Currently working with Radius Care Fulton, Nofo was inspired to study with New Zealand Tertiary College (NZTC) just two weeks into her job, so she could build up her confidence.
“I was absolutely delighted when my manager suggested I enrol with NZTC. Completing my Level 2 and 3 with the college helped a lot with learning about the various guidelines, strategies and skills to apply throughout a client’s care, as well as how to make them feel content and supported.
“All of this I was able to learn from the comfort of home, with NZTC’s online mode of study. This saves time as I don’t have to worry about travel and I have the freedom to complete my assignments after a busy day at work.”
Now in the final stages of completing the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Advanced Support) (Level 4), Nofo is feeling positive that a higher qualification will open up opportunities for pay rises in the healthcare sector going forward, as well as provide valuable experience for future roles.
“Even though assignments and research can be challenging, gaining expert knowledge in healthcare has significantly enhanced my knowledge and increased my confidence in providing great care and support for my clients.
“All of the content I have studied is beneficial for the work that I do. It helps me to critically examine my role and then incorporate new techniques by reflecting on the concepts and models I have learnt and putting them into effect.
“I will not stop striving to bring out the best in myself. I aim to continue providing quality care and support with increased confidence.”
