New Zealand Diploma in Sport, Recreation and Exercise. Diploma 1 and 2 certificates
When I was in my last year of school in Timaru, I learnt about NZIS at a careers expo. From there I went online to find out more information and then applied.
The tutors were awesome, and there was lots of work experience, practical opportunities, and theory too. All of this gave me value as the trainer I am now.
I’m now a coach at F45 Ferrymead. And I also work with Darfield Rugby club as their strength and conditioning coach.
Taking group fitness classes of up to 30 members per class, correcting form technique, sharing nutritional advice and recovery tips.
F45 is different every day - creating meaningful relationships with the members and bringing high energy.
It was daunting at the start, as I was relocating to Christchurch. The NZIS camp at the start of my first year of the programme was great, as I managed to meet and make a lot of good friends who have since become a second family.
I really enjoyed the sports exchange with the other NZIS campuses around the country. Another highlight was Monday Fitness – where students organise the fitness class, and you have the opportunity to put your learnings into practice.
Radiography is my hope. If I don’t get into radiography, I will apply for University of Canterbury and complete my Sport and Recreation degree.
