This qualification is designed for learners who want to acquire the basic skills in make up artistry, including basic corrective and fashion makeup, special FX/prosthetics, hairstyling, studio photography and post-production skills (e.g. airbrushing), and skills to run a small business. This programme provides learners with the necessary foundational skills towards a career in make-up artistry, and supports learners to producer a portfolio of their work throughout the programme towards securing employment.
This course will teach you the skills to design and apply makeup for fashion, film, television, and live performances, in addition to complimentary skills in photography, hairstyling and small business. You’ll be prepared for a wide variety of career opportunities as a makeup artist, with a professional portfolio to match.
All applicants must be 16+ years old and have NCEA Level 2 (or evidence of ability to succeed in the programme). We also recommend submitting a small portfolio of makeup creations AND Basic computer skills and an interest in art and makeup
