The aim of the programme is to provide graduates with skills and knowledge needed to work in supporting roles under direct supervision across the sport, recreation, and exercise industries. The programme has been developed to equip you with the practical skills and knowledge to operate within a framework of health and wellness in relation to individuals, groups, and community needs.

Earn NCEA credits
There will be plenty of practical opportunities for you to enhance your technical skills and learning outside the classroom.
Learn life skills
From CV building, interview skills to budget management
Event management experience
Get involved in event planning and support at a regional sporting organisation, or a sporting facility for professional athletes.
Learn leadership skills
Coach a beginner team to learn real leadership and communication skills.
Open to students aged 16 years and over
An interest in Sport, Fitness and Recreation
Be physically fit, health screening and pass a Police Security background check (where required)
Undertake a face-to-face interview or telephone interview
Applicants without formal qualifications must meet the minimum requirements of the NZIS placement assessment.
YOUTH GUARANTEE
You can attend this course for free if you are aged 16-24 and meet the course entry requirements. This course is part of the government led Youth Guarantee Programme.
